Peritoneal dialysis catheter placement is the focus of this session. Discussion includes removal of adhesions, postoperative catheter care, access maintenance, and management of complications. The primary focus is prevention of exit site infections, but treatment options are also addressed.

This session focuses on the basic differences in patients with glomerular diseases versus those with tubular diseases. The etiologies of acute and chronic diseases in each part of the renal system and the clues that lead to the correct diagnosis – and the best treatment option – are discussed.
