While information is available on social determinants of health and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in health care, nephrology nurses working in acute dialysis settings need to know how these issues impact their unique patient population. This workshop focuses on how DEI issues may impact the risk, recurrence, morbidity, and mortality of acute kidney injury and end-stage kidney disease readmissions. We focus on improving cultural awareness and sensitivity and assist acute dialysis nurses in planning effective and meaningful communications and discharge planning.
