Kamalanathan Sambandam MD

Dr. Kamalanathan Sambandam is an Associate Professor of Medicine at University of Texas Southwestern in the Division of Nephrology.  He received his undergraduate degree at Rice University in Houston, Texas followed by his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

His Internal Medicine and Nephrology Subspecialty training was conducted at Banes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University in Saint Louis.

His main administrative roles include Directorship for the Nephrology Fellowship at UTSW and the Medical Directorship of the Parkland Memorial Hospital Renal Clinics.

His clinical and research interests lie in the fields of diuretic resistance and non-diabetic glomerular disease. He staffs a Cardiorenal Clinic at University Hospital that focuses on the care of patients with heart failure and renal disease.  In addition he staffs the Parkland County Hospital Glomerulonephritis Clinic.  He is the center Principal Investigator for 2 NIH- sponsored studies, the Nephrotic Syndrome Study Network and the Cure Glomerulonephritis Network.
