020d - End-of-Life Issues: Caring for Our Patients and Ourselves - Facing Our Grief: Caring for the Caregivers

This workshop addresses various aspects of caring for nephrology patients facing the end of life, including a review of palliative care, hospice care, and advance care planning and when to consider discussing these options with patients and families. Explore the challenges to nurses of dealing with the ethical, moral, and clinical determinants that may surround end-of-life conversations and the emotional consequences of a patient’s death.
