Nephrology nurses often care for patients with comorbid diseases but may not be as versed in caring for patients with severe mental illness (SMI). This session provides information about symptoms of SMI and research findings on mental health issues and kidney disease. A highlight of this session is the importance of this information to daily practice and how to provide the most effective care to patients with SMI.
