Buttonhole Technique

Has your facility been trying to implement a "buttonhole" program, but you're not sure where to start? During this session, you will review cannulation and practice the technique on a simulation model. Join us as we explore this method of cannulation for the hemodialysis patient.

  • Identify patients who may be high-risk candidates for the buttonhole technique.
  • Discuss the need for additional skin disinfection to prevent buttonhole infections.
  • Discuss measures to utilize to successfully insert blunt needles in a patient experiencing the “after the weekend effect.”
