This session focuses on the specifics of starting, maintaining, and improving a chronic kidney disease (CKD) clinic. A physician and nurse practitioner (NP) who are successfully involved in this endeavor share their expertise. They discuss when and why to consider starting a CKD clinic and what this undertaking necessitates from a functional standpoint. The role of the NP in a CKD clinic is highlighted, and case studies and real life anecdotes are presented. Measures that must be tracked in order to determine the effectiveness of a CKD clinic as well as the financial and business practices that a CKD clinic require are also discussed.
