213 - Disaster Planning: Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery

This session provides strategies for dialysis facilities to prepare for emergencies/disasters and reviews available preparedness toolkits for patients and facilities.

Learning Outcome:
Nephrology nurses will be included in the facility emergency disaster plan required by CMS and will have the knowledge and tools necessary to adequately teach patients about available resources, what to do in case of a disaster, the 3-day emergency renal diet, how the facility will coordinate support, and how to manage on their own in case of a disaster.
