Goal: To provide an overview of the pathology associated with acute and pulmonary embolism in patients with kidney failure.

Objectives:

Discuss the importance of recognizing symptoms suggestive of venous thromboembolism and pulmonary embolism in patients with kidney failure.
List criteria and diagnostic tools utilized in making the diagnosis of venous thromboembolism and pulmonary embolism.
Identify treatment options for consideration in the management of patients with kidney failure and diagnosed with venous thromboembolism.
