Sara Macedon BSN, RN, CNOR

Sara Macedon has been a nurse for 10 years. After graduating from Loyola University Chicago, she moved to Birmingham, Alabama, to work in the operating room. During the last decade she has held numerous roles on the abdominal transplant team, from scrub and circulating nurse, to team leader, to RN First Assist. After years of working with the transplant department, she was asked to help with cutting edge research in xenotransplantation. In the fall of 2021, she was fortunate to be a part of the team for the first clinical grade xenotransplant into a brain dead individual.
