Goal: To provide an overview of patient and technique survival on CAPD and other PD modalities in relation to body size indicators, race, gender, and peritoneal transport characteristics.

Objectives:

Outline the methods used in the study to determine success rates of patients on CAPD and other PD modalities.
Explain reasons for CAPD and PD success and failure as determined by this study.

In Memoriam: This work was initiated at the encouragement of Barbara F. Prowant, MSN, RN, CNN, a coauthor of the previous study (Twardowski et al., 2009), shortly before she passed away. It was decided to complete this project in memoriam to Ms. Prowant because she was a major force in the nephrology research program at the University of Missouri since the inception of CAPD. She was a great instigator, always pushing to improve patient care through the research of the dialysis process, always extending the boundaries of knowledge.
