Goal: Recognize and reduce exposure to both traditional and nontraditional renal-related cardiovascular risk factors in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Objectives:

Discuss the prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in patients with CKD.
Identify traditional and nontraditional renal-related risk factors for development of CVD.
List interventions that are known to reduce the risk of CVD development in patients with CKD.
