Goal: To provide an overview of the motivational interviewing technique as applied to patients with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis.

Objectives:

Define motivational interviewing.
Explain the process of motivational interviewing in the healthcare setting.
Discuss the benefits of using the motivational interviewing technique with patients with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis.
