Mary Ann Murray

"Mary Ann Murray is completing PhD studies at the University of Ottawa, School of Nursing. Her research focuses on helping patients facing tough choices at end of life. She has twice been an invited fellow to the Dartmouth College Summer Institute for Shared Decision Making in New Hampshire. She has received funding from Canadian Institute of Health, National Cancer Institute of Canada, Ontario Lung Association, Canadian Nurses Foundation, Registered Nurses Foundation of Ontario and the US Foundation for Informed Medical Decision Making. Clinically she has practiced in many nursing roles, most recently as an Advanced Practice Nurse with expertise in palliative care, decision support, education for nurses and patient education. She holds Canadian Nurses Association specialty certification in oncology, gerontology, and hospice palliative care. She has taken on several nursing leadership roles such as President of the College of Nurses of Ontario (2005-2007) and has co-lead a Registered Nurses Association of Ontario Best Practice Guideline development panel for Decision Support for Adults with CKD.
