Dr. Aeder is an Associate Professor of Surgery at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland. He is the former Chair of both the OPTN/UNOS Kidney Committee and Kidney Paired Donation Program. A graduate of Washington University Medical School, his residency was completed at University Hospitals in Cleveland with Transplant Fellowships at the University of Minnesota and The Ohio State University. He founded the Transplant Institute at Research Medical Center in Kansas City before coming to University Hospitals 13 years ago as Surgical Director of the Kidney Transplant program. He is the former President of the Midwest Transplant Network in Kansas City, former President of the National Kidney Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri and former Board Director for LifeBanc in Cleveland. Currently he is the Director for Surgical Quality for University Hospitals and the Quality Administrator for the UH Transplant Programs. In addition to the above UNOS/OPTN Committees he also served on the OPO, Kidney Pancreas, Policy Oversight and Ethics Committees and chaired the Technology Subcommittee. He has authored over 200 papers, book chapters and accepted abstracts, nearly all in transplant studies. His hobbies include backpacking, photography and yoga.
