Dr Sanders obtained his MD degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in addition to a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences. He completed internal medicine residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics followed by completion of both a general nephrology and transplant nephrology fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology and his current medical practice encorporates internal medicine, general nephrology and transplant nephrology.
In addition to his clinical duties, Dr Sanders enjoys medical education and currently serves in education leadership roles at the medical student and internal medicine resident levels. He is also currently serving as the Medical Director for the Iowa City VA Kidney Transplant Program. He is married with two children and enjoys traveling, sports and mission work in his spare time.
