Dr. Kam Kalantar is a nephrologist who studied medicine in Germany and received MPH and PhD degrees from University of California, Berkeley. He trained at SUNY Brooklyn and University of California, San Francisco, and is board certified in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, and Pediatrics. Dr. Kalantar has authored over 800 publications and has had several NIH grants. He is professor and chief of nephrology at University of California, Irvine, and the medical director of two dialysis clinics. Dr. Kalantar is past president of the International Society of Renal Nutrition and Metabolism, co-chair of the international steering committee of World Kidney Day, and chair of the medical advisory council of the National Forum of ESRD Networks.
