Bob Brown

State Government Affairs Coordinator

Bob Brown serves as the State Government Affairs Coordinator at the American Nurses Association (ANA), where he supports the association’s state advocacy efforts and works closely with state nurses associations, elected leaders, and coalition partners to advance nursing policy priorities nationwide. In this role, Bob helps track and analyze state legislative trends, develop advocacy strategies, and strengthen the voice of nurses in policymaking at every level of government.

Before joining ANA, Bob worked at Bloomberg Government and Stateside Associates, where he gained extensive experience monitoring state and federal legislation, providing policy analysis, and advising clients on complex government relations challenges. His background gives him a strong understanding of how policy ideas move from concept to law, and the political, procedural, and strategic realities that shape those outcomes.

A proud graduate of Michigan State University, Bob holds degrees in International Relations and Political Theory. He brings a passion for civic engagement and public service to his work and enjoys helping others understand how advocacy can make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Bob is an avid fan of Detroit sports, and in his free time enjoys curling, playing board games, and cross-stitching.
