Goal: To relay information found in a review of the literature on sexual dysfunction in patients on hemodialysis.

Objectives:

Describe the 4 adaptive modes used as a framework in Roy's Adaptation Model.
Contrast the literature reports focusing on sexual dysfunction to those on physlologic, self-concept, role, or interdependence modes of patients on hemodialysis.
Contrast patients' stated needs for discussion about concerns with sexual dysfunction with their perceptions of caregivers' willingness to engage in that discussion.
Suggest nursing research needed in the area of sexual dysfunction in patients on hemodialysis.
