Dr. Christine Corbett is the associate chief nursing officer for advanced practice providers and a practicing nurse practitioner in kidney palliative care at University Health Truman Medical Centers, Kansas City, Missouri. In her role, Dr. Corbett maintains collaborative responsibility for UH’s APPs. Through innovation and leadership, Dr. Corbett restructured onboarding, developed the nursing doctoral student project process, created an APP dashboard and productivity metric, and designed and implemented UH’s first APP Clinical Ladder. Dr. Corbett graduated from TMC’s Executive Fellowship program and completed the UMKC Bloch School of Business Strategic Leadership Program. She is the recipient of the 2018 March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Award - Advanced Practice. Dr. Corbett’s doctoral focus was shared decision-making, advance care planning and appropriate palliative care referral for select patients with chronic kidney disease. In the past three years she developed, implemented, and currently manages a conservative kidney care clinic for patients who choose not to pursue dialysis. She is involved and engaged in the Coalition for Supportive Care of Kidney Patients, the Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association, the American Nephrology Nurses Association as a current conference committee member and serves as the National Kidney Foundation Medical Advisory Board member, Fellow, Renal Roundtable Committee member, and the 2019-2021 Executive Council for Advanced Practitioners - publication chair.
