Brittany Koons, PhD, RN is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the NewCourtland Center for Transitions and Health at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and she is further supported by a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Future of Nursing Postdoctoral award. Brittany’s research interests are in heart and lung transplantation. She is particularly interested in patient centered outcomes research, improving access to transplantation, reducing disparities, and creating research evidence to inform transplant policy and practice. Her research interests are influenced by her clinical experience working as an intensive care unit nurse at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with heart and lung transplant candidates and recipients. Brittany is supported by a rich interdisciplinary mentorship team including Dr. Barbara Riegel, Dr. Nancy Blumenthal, and Dr. Edward Cantu. Brittany is a graduate of the BSN, MSN, and PhD programs at Villanova University and was selected as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Future of Nursing Scholar.
