Dr. Cynthia Smith is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with concurrent certification as a nephrology nurse practitioner. She is a Fellow of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), served on the Medical Advisory Board for the NKF Serving the Alleghenies and on the NKF Council of Advanced Practitioners (CAP) Executive Committee, and was the chair for the NKF’s multidisciplinary WV Chapter (WV Kidney Health Professionals). She was the 2019 NKF CAP Outstanding Nephrology Advanced Practitioner (Tim Poole Award) and was the 2021 Small Hands, Big Heart Awardee of the NKF Serving the Alleghenies. She has previously served as leader of the Advanced Practice SPN and SPN-Chair Delegate of the ANNA. She has had multiple peer-reviewed publications and lectured extensively. Dr. Smith is currently the clinical coordinator for ambulatory care services of the Hershel “Woody” Williams Veterans Administration Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.
