Beth Piraino MD

Beth Piraino, M.D., is a tenured Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She received her BS degree in biology from the University of Pittsburgh and attended medical school at the Medical College of Pennsylvania (now Drexel), graduating magna cum laude. She pursued subsequent training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology was at the University of Pittsburgh Health Center and remained there as a faculty member. Dr. Piraino is a clinician educator who has done extensive research in peritoneal dialysis over 30 years and has published more than 200 papers. She has been an author on ISPD Guidelines related to peritoneal dialysis and is the recipient of numerous honors. She served as the Program Chair for the NKF Spring Clinical Meetings in 2009 and is a past President of the National Kidney Foundation.
