Clinical Associate Professor; Student Success Faculty, University of Texas at Arlington

Mary Schira is currently a Clinical Associate Professor and Student Success Faculty at the University of Texas at Arlington College of Nursing and Health Innovation where she counsels and advises graduate students in nursing regarding study and test taking approaches. Prior to her retirement from full time teaching and advanced practice nursing, Mary taught in the MSN Nurse Practitioner and DNP Programs.

Mary is a frequent presenter and has made numerous presentations related to professional development, physiology, pathophysiology and kidney disease, evidence based guidelines and outcomes, and professional practice topics.

She is a member of the Dallas Chapter and has been a Nephrology Nurse for over 45 years and was an Acute Care NP for over 15 years prior to her retirement. Mary has held numerous volunteer positions in ANNA, and is a past Chair and member of the ANNA Conferences Committee and member of the Scholarship and Awards Committee. She is a past member of the ANNA Journal Editorial Board and APN SIG. In 2021, Mary received the Outstanding Contribution to ANNA Award.
