Jim Twaddell is a senior policy advisor at Venable law firm in Washington, DC. He has extensive experience in and knowledge of the federal public policymaking and legislative and regulatory processes, strategic planning initiatives, and advocacy campaigns. Jim provides clients with counsel on legislative, policy, political and advocacy issues and represents them before individual Members of Congress, key Congressional Committees, and numerous federal agencies. His efforts for clients include advancing legislation, securing federal appropriations funding, engaging with federal agencies, analyzing and responding to proposed regulations and organizing advocacy campaigns to promote specific policy initiatives.

Jim earned bachelor's degree in public administration from George Mason University and his master's degree in American Government from The Johns Hopkins University. He started his career as the deputy director of communications and a legislative aide for U.S. Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA). Previously, he worked as the associate director of government affairs at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. He has almost 25 years of professional experience in federal policy and he has served as ANNA’s Federal Health Policy consultant since 2006.
