Sagar Nigwekar MD

Co-Director, Kidney Research Center, Massachusetts General Hospital

Dr. Sagar Nigwekar is co-director of the Kidney Research Center at the Massachusetts General Hospital and an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Nigwekar received his medical degree from the University of Mumbai in India and a Master's in Medical Sciences degree from Harvard Medical School. He trained in nephrology at the Brigham and Women's Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital's joint nephrology fellowship program.

Dr. Nigwekar conducts translational research in vascular disorders among patients with kidney disease. He has author over 60 peer-reviewed research articles in high-impact journals and has been a prior recipient of the Young Investigator Award from the National Kidney Foundation, the Clinical Scientist in Nephrology award from the American Kidney Fun, and the Carl W. Gottschalk Research Scholar Grant from the American Society of Nephrology. He co-chairs the International Consensus Panel on calciphylaxis.
