Richard Hamburger MD, FACP, FASN

Doctor Hamburger was born and educated in the Philadelphia area. He received his bachelor’s degree from Villanova University and MD from the Jefferson Medical College where he also received his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. After a two year stint in the Army at the US Army Surgical Research Unit in San Antonio, he has been on the faculty of Indiana University in Indianapolis since 1968. He is currently a Professor Emeritus of Medicine. His nephrology community service has included being one of the Nephrologists at the Harvard RBRVS and numerous committees including Board service on the Renal Physicians Association, National Kidney Foundation and The Renal Network. He was the Nephrology advisor to CPT from1987 to 2010 and remains active in the RPA coding, billing and payment activities.
