Ruben L. Velez is the current CEO and President of Dallas Nephrology Associates, and current President of the Renal Physicians Association. He attended Medical School at the University of Puerto Rico, School of Medicine, and moved to Dallas in 1978 for his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine. He completed his Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School in 1983. Dr. Velez joined Dallas Nephrology Associates that same year, June 1983. He is a member of many societies and organizations. He is also currently a member of the Board of Directors of Methodist Hospitals of Dallas, and has served as President of the Renal Physicians Association for the past two years (2011-2013). He also serves as the Nephrology CAC representative for MAC J4, and is the current Chairman for the MRB Network 14 of Texas. Dr. Velez also gives his time to two very important projects for the Dallas Community, by seeing indigent patients through Project Access Dallas, an arm of the Dallas County Medical Society, and the KEEP Program through the National Kidney Foundation.
