Dr. Painter is a clinical exercise physiologist and has focused her expertise to working with patients with chronic kidney disease, specifically with those treated with dialysis and transplantation. Since she started her work with these patients in 1981, she has developed clinical programs of exercise for both dialysis and transplant patients, and has conducted extensive research in the area of exercise in these patients, including 3 NIH sponsored studies, and several major studies funded by private organizations and foundations."
