Dr. Jami S. Brown is an Associate Professor and Traditional BSN Concentration Coordinator in the College of Nursing at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Tennessee. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, in 2002; a Master of Science in Nursing degree focusing on Nursing Education from Regis University in Denver, Colorado, in 2006; and a Doctor of Health Education degree from A. T. Still University in Kirksville Missouri, in 2009. Dr. Brown has been a registered nurse (RN) since 2002 and in nursing academia since 2010. Her 20-plus years of experience within the nursing profession also includes critical care and dialysis nursing background. In addition, her research interests include chronic kidney disease, health disparities, and nursing education. Dr. Brown holds national certification as a certified nephrology nurse. She is a member of the American Nephrology Nurses Association (ANNA). In addition, she serves as Leader of the Educator SPN, a member of the Leadership Committee, and on the Editorial Board for the Nephrology Nursing Journal. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Nurses on Board Coalition as a representative for ANNA. In addition, she is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, the American Nurses Association, the Association of Black Nursing Faculty, the National League of Nursing, and the Tennessee Nurses Association.
