Individuals with kidney disease or acute kidney injury (AKI) sometimes require surgery. This session examines what can occur during surgery, including drugs commonly used, fluid management, and what circulating nurses are watching for during the procedure. Strategies to protect the kidneys during surgery as well as collaborative strategies to optimize outcomes for patients with kidney disease/AKI during this critical period are shared.
