National Symposium 2006

Health Care Outcomes in the United States: Equality or Disparity?

Apr 2, 2006 8:00am ‐ Apr 2, 2006 4:00pm

Standard: $26.00
Members: $16.00

Description

Much has been in the news about the disparity of care in the United States - in caring for different races, the elderly, and the poor. This workshop will launch by focusing on the definition of race and ethnicity and what that means in relationship to race-based health care initiatives. Research being done into the actual disparities also will be discussed. The workshop will examine race and ethnicity as they affect bio-chemical, environmental, and genetic predispositions to illness and morbidities. Various types of disparities, particularly those that affect the health care of chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients will be addressed. Identifying the impact of these disparities on CKD outcomes will be our goal - determining what they are and what we can do to decrease these in our patients and in our country.
