Peritoneal dialysis (PD) has long been used as a renal replacement therapy, although it has not been as widely accepted as other modalities. This session provides a brief overview of the history of PD, uses, and technologies, as well as an examination of the current trends in the use of PD as a modality. A projection of future uses and trends in PD will wrap up this exploration of this modality for patients with failing renal function.
