As our patients age, the need for nephrology nurses to be competent in caring for older adults increases. The Gerontologic Nursing Project, a program in which ANNA was involved, addresses these needs and is discussed during this session. Determining whether cognitive impairment is pathologic or a normal part of aging and strategies for caring for the geriatric nephrology patient is also addressed.
