Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a total body system disease, not just one affecting the kidneys. This workshop examines the effects of CKD on the organs of the head and neck. Patients with CKD complain about symptoms affecting the eyes, mouth, thyroid, and parathyroid organs. Presenters summarize the pathology, physical findings, and clinical presentations of disorders that occur along with CKD. Laboratory results and assessment findings that are used to determine pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatments are also highlighted.
