Oct 22, 2007 9:00am ‐ Oct 22, 2007 10:30am

Standard: $25.00
Members: $15.00

Description

On March 30, 2007, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released Hospital Conditions of Participation: Requirements for Approval and Re-approval of Transplant Centers to Perform Organ Transplants. These new regulations authorize the survey and certification of transplant programs. All hospital transplant programs covered by the regulation, whether currently approved under the ESRD program (for kidney programs) or under National Coverage Decisions (for all other organ programs), must submit a request for approval under the new regulations to CMS by December 2007. This session and Session 225 will detail these new certification requirements for hospitals with solid organ transplant programs. The criteria that will be used to prioritize transplant programs for survey will be outlined. In addition, the certification requirements related to the care of the transplant recipient as well as those related to the rights and care of the living organ donor will be discussed. (Continued in Session 225.)

The CNE for this session has expired.
