This session reviews the physiologic, psychologic, and lifestyle factors that contribute to obesity as well as the health consequences of obesity with a focus on the kidney, such as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and inability to qualify for transplant. Treatment options, including medications, and special considerations for the pediatric population are discussed.
