This workshop provides information on the regulatory environment and opiod use and help nephrology nurses understand how substance abuse occurs and how to recognize abuse. Non-opioid medications and non-pharmacologic methods of pain management are explored. In addition, a panel engages the audience in exploring "next steps" and addresses concerns of both nurses and patients regarding the use of opioid and pain management in the future.
