National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) Dialysis Event Surveillance reporting is required for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Quality Incentive Program (QIP) rule. This session provides a complete introduction to the NHSN Dialysis Event reporting requirements and the surveillance definitions necessary to provide complete and accurate monthly reporting.

This session was offered through a partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to provide training opportunities for nephrology nurses.

The patient and the dialysis care team have key roles and responsibilities to promote safety and preserve existing arteriovenous fistulas and arteriovenous grafts.
