Goal: Address key issues in optimizing care for the patient with chronic kidney disease (CKD), with emphasis on recognition, cardiac protection, and anemia management.
Objectives:
Identify populations at risk for CKD and discuss interventions to improve patient outcomes.
Describe the physiologic impact of anemia and anemia management strategies.
Discuss the management of hypertension in CKD in accordance with the Sixth Report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure (JNC VI).
