Goal: To increase awareness of the impact of hemoglobin levels on the mortality and morbidity rates for patients on dialysis.

Objectives:

  1. Relate the rates of hospitalization for patients on dialysis to age, vascular access, and hemoglobin levels.
  2. Compare levels of hemoglobin to the associated risk of hospitalization.
  3. Discuss the mortality rate of patients on dialysis having hemoglobin levels below and above 11 g/dL.
